Commercial auto
Commercial auto for plumbing trucks in San Diego County.
A personal auto policy is written for private use. The work truck, a jetter trailer, and a van borrowed for a job belong on a commercial auto policy. Mainline places commercial auto for plumbing contractors from the Chula Vista office. This page does not show a price.
What to list.
- Each truck the company owns, with the vehicle identification number.
- The trailer that carries the jetter or the hose reel.
- Who drives.
- Where the vehicles are garaged.
- How far they travel for work.
A trailer is covered when it is scheduled, or when the policy says an unscheduled trailer is covered. Say which one it is before a job depends on it.
A rented van or an employee's car.
A van rented for a week, or a car used to pick up a water heater, is a hired or non-owned exposure. Ask for it by those words. This page does not assume a policy includes it.
What the auto policy does not replace.
- The tools in the truck are not the truck.
- An injured employee is a workers' compensation question.
- Damage to a customer's building is a general liability question.
Common questions
Can a plumbing truck stay on a personal auto policy?
If the truck is used for the plumbing business, tell the agency. A personal auto policy is written for private use and can refuse a business use.
Is the jetter trailer covered with the truck?
Only if it is scheduled, or the policy says a trailer is covered. Name the trailer before a job depends on it.
